Viu Eat What You Watch
To gain an edge in a highly-competitive industry, Viu, a leading video-streaming service in Southeast-Asia, had to leverage the media spaces within its ecosystem without disrupting the audiences' viewing experience. In order to take personalisation into a hyper level, they turned in-stream ads into an engaging mobile experience—increasing brand love and opening up a new revenue stream.
Research has shown that our choice of food is influenced by the shows we watch. It is no wonder that we often crave for the same food that our favourite characters eat on-screen.
'Eat What You Watch' hijacks the viewers' behaviour of food cravings by intercepting the exact moment where the feasting happens. In partnership with food delivery platform Deliveroo, Viu-ers are given the ability to order what they see on-screen. An AI is jointly developed to analyse the food scenes using a unique algorithm, serving matching food choices to match the scenes.
The campaign resulted in a 143% click-through rates in just 2 weeks, and created a new stream of revenue for new partners in the food and beverages industry.
